Kristin earned her bachelor’s in psychology from BYU eons ago and is currently obtaining her Master of Education in School Counseling from Utah State University.
As Manager of Academic Support, she collaborates in the development and management of individual academic plans for students at SCS, works directly with students, and leads SCS’s skilled and caring academic team. Working directly with parents and public schools, she helps guide the planning for successful credit recovery and attainment for students while in treatment, as well as successful transitions to permanent post-treatment educational settings. Kristin’s background in psychology and education give her the ability to help students apply socioemotional skills in an academic setting, while supporting them from a research-based, individualized, and therapeutic framework. Homeschooling her own children for several years, and teaching music in both a private studio and public school setting from elementary to high school have helped her develop an approach to individualized education that values diverse forms of instruction in a variety of settings.
A native of Washington State, Kristin has now lived exactly half her life in Utah and loves it here. In her spare time, Kristin plays the piano and violin, writes, and enjoys spending time with her 5 children.
