Biography

With a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science and an emphasis in sociology, Scott brings an impressive foundation to SCS that allows him to add significant expertise as Program Manager. Scott’s special interest is in the unique systems that impact each individualbe they economic, gender-related, religious, cultural, or otherwise. Having previously spent five years working with adolescents in PHP and residential treatment settings, he is an exceptional communicator and interacts skillfully with youth.

He is specially trained to maintain a safe environment, in which youth can comfortably pursue recovery at all times, and excels at anticipating the needs of clients, parents, and staff members. He works directly with the clinical team and administrators to ensure that therapeutic modalities are being implemented effectively. He strongly advocates for family participation as a key component of a client’s ability to grow and progress.

Scott recognizes that working with people means being adaptable and open to shifting tactics frequently. He appreciates the way SCS maintains a solid identity and uses clear objectives, while also being adept at changing strategies as new developments arise. “You have to have that mindset if you’re working with a human being,” he says. “You can’t be static and comfortable, because it’s not like a conveyor belt that cranks out the perfect end product.” He appreciates working with staff who agree with that philosophy and respond accordingly.
